How to make a simple beam :D

Ok so ive had Wipster and Civcity1 askin me this sooo ill show you all
unless you dont use pivot....
never mind
.Ok so first make a big blob any size like this and make a dark colour im gonna use red

.Then get another blob but make the size 10 less than the first one and make it a lighter colour but make it a lighter red or whatever :3 (make sure the beam is not fully showing put it in the side like this

Repeat this over untill you get the shade to white then youll probally come up with something like this
